One APS - a journey into the heart of service - where Australians serve Australians.
The Spirit of Service exhibition at the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) celebrates the essential role of the Australian Public Service (APS) in sustaining and safeguarding democracy. Designed by E2, the exhibition reveals the diversity of professions, responsibilities, and stories that define the APS, while highlighting the values and dedication that underpin a true “spirit of service” to the Australian people.
Working within the heritage constraints of Old Parliament House, E2 created an immersive, interactive environment that balances discovery, clarity, and accessibility. The exhibition is structured around a central circular format – resolving the challenges of the heritage-listed space while symbolising “One APS,” a unified service working together for the nation.
Through seven key experiences, visitors gain insight into how the APS supports Australian democracy, addresses the critical issues of today, and contributes to the fabric of society. At its heart, the exhibition invites audiences to reflect on the unseen but vital work of public servants and their enduring commitment to serve.
